Catching Up with the Paint Brush

Every so often I step back and notice a familiar pattern — the carving bench has been full of activity, while the paint brushes have been resting a little too long. Once again, my finished carvings have begun to outnumber the hours available to bring them to completion.

After looking over the growing lineup patiently waiting on the shelf, I decided it was time to shift gears and focus on the next stage of the process. Adding paint is always a rewarding moment; it’s when each carving truly begins to reveal its character and personality. The first photo shows the group as they waited their turn — full of potential and ready for life to be added.

I’m happy to share that the first batch is now complete. Of course, the waiting line hasn’t gotten any shorter. In fact, two new carvings joined the “to be painted” group just this past week, and I’ve included a small preview of those as well.

Thank you for taking a look and following along. I hope you enjoy seeing these pieces come to life as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them.
