Award-Winning Carvings Featured in Chip Chats Magazine – Highlights from the 2024 Metro Carvers Show

I’m proud to share that my work was recently featured in the Winter 2025 edition of Chip Chats Magazine! The article, titled “Metro Carvers of Michigan’s 42nd Artistic Creation in Wood,” showcases highlights from the 2024 Metro Carvers of Michigan Woodcarving Show—a fantastic event where I participated as both an exhibitor and in the competition. 

The show drew over 550 attendees and featured 30 judged carving categories, with an incredible range of creativity on display. I entered three categories—Human Caricature, Holiday Carvings, and Indian Carvings—and was thrilled to earn First Place in all three. Even more exciting, my piece “Santa Irishman” took home Second Place Best of Show, selected from all first-place winners across every category.

The Chip Chats article highlights the “Santa Irishman” and the honor of being recognized among such talented woodcarvers. It was a humbling experience and one I won’t forget.

• First Place – “Santa Irishman” (Human Caricature)
• First Place – “Warm Hearted Santa with Hot Chocolate” (Holiday Carvings)
• First Place – “The Cigar Curator” (Indian Carvings)
• Second Place – Best of Show –  “Santa Irishman” (from all First Place entries)

I’m truly grateful and honored that my “Santa Irishman” carving received Second Place – Best of Show… It placed 2nd overall among all the first-place winners—a moment I won’t forget!
